In the end, you'll know whether or not it's a good place to further your university studies.

HISTORY

FUNIC was established in 2015 by Dr. Fotabe Elmine to provide Cameroonian students access to accredited and affordable higher education. It offers bachelor's and master's degrees in fields like Business Administration, Computer Science, Law, Management etc. FUNIC combines traditional coursework with hands-on learning, internships, and new technologies to prepare students for careers after university.

The FUNIC campus spans over 80 acres in the center of Douala, precisely in Kotto, Bonamousadi. It features modern classrooms, computer labs, a library, student housing, and recreational facilities like a swimming pool, soccer pitch, and basketball court. The campus provides a dynamic learning environment and opportunities for extracurricular activities that enrich the student experience.

My journey into Fotabe begins when I decided to further my studies into tech and revive my dreams of being a developer, so as a result, I started searching for a good university that can make that dream come true, I fell on their website FUNIC, you can check it too by the way.

So I got interested, contacted the school and got enrolled as fast as I could because not only was I impressed at the quality they seemed to be able to offer but also surprised at the price relative to other schools I had come across in my quest. That being said and done I started lectures and my God, it was and still is such an experience, Lectures are professionals, and their teaching approach is so ethical and easy to understand by anyone, immediately school started, we software engineering students were divided into groups and given giving a program called CODE WITH KEENS where assigned each amazing coding projects to work on, we are still working on them though, because they are huge projects so watch out.

Now, as a software engineering student, I thought everything will be about coding, algorithms and computers, but to my greatest surprise, we had courses like Business creation, Business Ethics, Project management and others, I was feeling a bit frustrated cause I'm more of a tech geek, so I was wondering how these courses will make me a better programmer; but now I see clearer and understand better, and that's what makes FUNIC so special in Cameroon, she's not just concerned about her students having degrees with high GPAs, she prepares them for working during and after the degrees, I don't even want to mention their BIZPRENEURSHIP program as that will make this blog post too long to read.

I realized that as I kept taking those business ethics courses and all, I had a paradigm shift and my perspective and approach to everything related to the business world changed as a programmer, without bragging FUNIC has one of the best teaching approaches when it comes to preparing her students for jobs and inserting in them the mindsets of job creation, honestly.

Let's talk a little more about my school's achievements;

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

The Fotabe University of Cameroon emerged best Higher institution in Cameroon for offering high-quality training and imbibing in students the virtues of Job creation and entrepreneurship in 2022.

FUNIC is one of the few private institutions to offer over 100 free scholarships to IDPs (Internally displaced) all over Cameroon so they can pursue their dreams and make them happen in the 2022/2023 academic year. If the average tuition fee in private institutions in Cameroon is 300,000frs, then do the Maths yourself of how much the school invested in these youngsters.

FUNIC fosters a close-knit campus community. With over 1,000 students all over the nation and beyond, the university maintains a low student-to-faculty ratio of 15:1 (The student-to-faculty ratio of 15:1 means that for every 15 students, there is one faculty member. This ratio is often used to measure the quality of an educational institution, as a higher ratio generally indicates a lower student-to-faculty ratio, and therefore a higher quality of instruction.) which allows for more personal attention and mentoring. FUNIC also hosts social events, guest lectures, and alumni networks to bring students and faculty together outside the classroom. After graduating, FUNIC alumni become part of a 20,000+ strong alumni association.

In summary, FUNIC is an esteemed private university in Cameroon that offers accredited degrees, state-of-the-art facilities, and a supportive campus environment. Though a relatively young school, FUNIC is committed to empowering future leaders and innovators in Cameroon and beyond. FUNIC's graduates are prepared to address important challenges and shape the future of industries across Cameroon and Africa.

Funic has allowed me to use her wings to fly and fulfill my software engineering dreams hence I promise to make her proud...

I recommend FUNIC to anyone seeking to further his or her studies whether in Business Management or Banking and Finance or Software Engineering like myself or any field of choice.
